Good morning.

It's the last day of hurricane season, readers, so break out your canned goods and water and fire up that generator and run it until the tank goes dry. Woo hoo! We're gonna party! Here's your morning Sift.

B- Justice Building Blog remembers the late Judge Calvin Mapp.

Judge Mapp broke a color line. His memory stands to remind us that it was not that long ago when there were religious and sex and race lines that had been firmly drawn and needed heroes to step up and break them.

C- Bark Bark Woof Woof provides his take on the current budget negotiations between Congress and the White House.

This time President Obama has all the cards. If nothing happens, the tax cuts go away, the defense cuts go into effect, the deficit drops, and the Republicans are left to explain why they stood in the way of continuing unemployment insurance and keeping the middle class tax cuts. President Obama is not running for re-election, so his work is done. And the Koch Brothers and all the other folks who paid good money for the GOP are wondering why John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are tearing up the bill they sent them for all the money they spent.
