Your Morning Sift

Fairly busy overnight. Here are your links...

A- There's a reason why they go to UM, from Incertus.

B- South Beach Condos Blog gives us a look at a gorgeous condo on the 30th floor of Continuum II on South Beach. I don't know about you all, but when I look out at the coastline from those heights through those large glass panels, all I can think about after admiring the views is "hurricane."

C- Ipanemic has a bad culinary experience at CheeseburgerBaby.
This waitress is literally screaming, I mean screaming, the entire time we're in there. Yelling at her friends outside to come in. Yelling at customers so that EVERYONE can hear her thoughts with her i'm-a-white-girl-from-the-hood street talk about how "you scratch my back, i scratch yours, you know what i'm sayin" crap in regards to a small little notice placed on the tip jar. The note says, "Tips make the food taste better."

D- Transit Miami tells us how technology might eventually help us get better traffic reports from FedEx vans.

E- The Cuban Triangle reports on corruption in the USAID's Cuba program.

F- Some Cranky Guy has some thought's on tonight's Earth Hour.
So, what exactly is the purpose of earth hour again? Well, if we all do this, it will send a message. Why, the giant fat rich oil executives and the right wing conservatives and other planet killers will see this event and be so shocked that they will spit out their fat cigars and wet their pants at the sheer effect! Immediately, they will change their polluting ways and work feverishly to close down their money making companies and turn green. Or, they will laugh so hard at the idiots turning out their lights during prime time television viewing that they will have a heart attack and die.

G- Coconut Grove Grapevine posts a slideshow with some Grove scenes.

I don't disagree with SCG's take (except for the global waming is a stunt part) but since it's no skin off my back, I'm turning off the lights tonight.

Yes, it would be better if we had a Check Writing Hour instead or a real Green Party (hey Nader, how about that?). Since neither is going to happen in the near future until the environment is screwed beyond hope, I don't mind baby steps.

(I also renewed my Sierra Club and Clean Water Action memberships. CWA is doing neighborhood canvassing and fundraising in Miami right now, gathering signatures against expanding the UDL. Please support them.)
